◆Melton Wool Characteristic◆

This "Viagen" bowl-bag made of melton wool.

A napped handwoven wool, the fabric is finished as a fluffed wool and lustrous surface.

The finishing process conceals its wool "felt" characteristic with a napped and sheared traits. 

The material is a highly water-repellent, wind resistant and against any liquid form,

heavily strong and provides warmth. 

Although it has very soft texture, it also a thick material and capable to recognize if you touch it.

The "Viagens" bowl-bag comes in 2 choice of colors, either khaki or black melton with black leather gussets and details.

・Calf Skin（6 months of postnatal calf）

The highest grade of cow leather, smooth and soft texture leather and very refined even by looking at the appearance.

・Kip Skin（6mths to 1 yr of postnatal young cattle）

Thick and strong composition of leather, soft texture, an intermediate grade of cow leather. 

・Cow-hide  (2 yrs of postnatal young cattle）

Strong composition of leather, soft texture leather.

・Steer-hide（3 to 6 months of after-castrated and 2years of postnatal male cattle)

Durable , thick and strong leather.

・Blue-hide（3 yrs of postnatal non-castrated male cow)

Detail coarsely grained and thick leather. Many stain and scar on the skin surface.

Cow leather has many names and it differs in variety too.

We have produced goods from one type of these leathers.

Previously we have introduced you to our Nuvens long wallet,

which also exclusively utilizing all surface polished cow leather to create a lavish and stylish to its presence.

More often it is used, the more glossy and the shade will evolve too.

The strong stitching is made strong and durability as Japanese business man fastidiously taking out the card piece by piece;

the casing has longevity to be use daily.

◆From Skin to Leather◆

This Nuvens card-case is made from same leather as the prior long wallet .

As previously introduced to you, 

the animal skin was stripped in certain part and processed into leather by "tanning". 

Tanning process is divided into 2 kind of process.

"Vegetable tanning" is a term for tanning a leather with tannin and other vegetable/plant ingredients

"Chrome-tanning" is a term for tanning a leather with chemical such as chromium sulfate and other type of chromium's salt.

Vegetable-tanned leather are usually will become softer and more glossy after often usage.

Its special features are inner fat that appears in the leather will effect the shade and lustrous as fat begin to spread inside

Conclusion, it is very thrilling to see wait for the leather to change in appearance as time pass by.

As for chrome-tanned leather, the leather is durable to water and has soft surface as it special feature, 

but it will never change and transform any appearance even when time pass by.

Nuvens card-case is made from thick leather with vegetable tanning.

The card case is tend to change it's appearance and 'feel' according to the owner's characteristic and it's an enjoyable moment to wait for its transformation!!

This is a local leather product made in affiliate to the craftsman of "Iwate Hope". 

Since our local leather product are often made by craftsman from aging society,
